The cottages are in Monkton Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight, only four minutes walk from the seafront, eight minutes from the town centre and ideally situated for access to all parts of the island with its wide variety of scenery, sights and activities.
Each cottage is comfortably furnished and fully equipped for self catering with full sized electric cooker, refrigerator, microwave, spin drier, iron and ironing board, electric heaters, 32 inch colour television, duvets and blankets. Electricity is not included but the unit price is low and we do not make a profit from it. You may bring your own linen or we can supply it for a small extra charge. We appreciate no smoking or vaping in the cottages and sorry, no pets. On the way to the seafront is a general store, newsagent, launderette two cafés and the Solent Inn and further on the popular Ryde Castle hotel. There is no time limit for parking in the street and there is space in front of the cottages. Hyacinth Cottage has an off-road parking space beside the house.
Bay Tree Cottage consists of an entrance hall, lounge/dining room and kitchen downstairs and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The fitted kitchen has a breakfast bar. The main bedroom has two single beds linked together to make a king size bed (5 feet wide), but they can be separated if required. The second bedroom is entered through the main bedroom and has two (2 feet 6 inches) single beds. A cot is available if required. The bathroom has a toilet, wash basin and bath with electric shower. There is a small front garden.
Hyacinth Cottage consists of a lounge/dining room and a kitchen downstairs, a steep, winding staircase leads to a double bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has two single beds linked together to make a king size bed (5 feet wide), but they can be separated if required. The bathroom has a toilet, wash basin and bath with electric shower. Outside there is a small front garden and a side patio with table and chairs. There is an off-road parking space.
Ryde is a bustling seaside town with a new harbour, an excellent shopping centre, restaurants, inns and cinema. The wide, sandy beaches stretch for three miles all the way to Nettlestone Point with a wide, level promenade along the sea wall. The clean, sheltered waters offer safe bathing for all ages with sun or shade as preferred. There are lovely walks along the coast, parks by the sea, bowling greens, putting, nine hole golf course, heated swimming pool and boating lake. From the pier a high speed ferry runs to Portsmouth with the amazing dockyard museum and a hovercraft runs from the esplanade to Southsea (10mins). A frequent train service operates from Ryde to Brading, Sandown and Shanklin, and buses run to all parts of the island.
There is an easy, level footpath along the esplanade and sea wall from Ryde eastwards to Seaview and Bembridge. On the way to Nettlestone point there are several cafes with views across the Solent. Beyond you can walk along the coast through the secluded Seagrove and Priory bays and onwards to St Helens and Bembridge. The coastal footpath leads on to Whitecliff Bay, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor and around the whole Island. There are numerous footpaths within and across the Island.
